Your baby

In her great questions for us in the Rectors Forum (which Paul has kindly posted here), Elizabeth Baucum has asked us to reflect on the ways our experiences help us to understand more about God.  On February 19th, she quoted TOBSL page five—“All of our subjective experiences correspond to the objective reality that we are created in God’s image.” So, here’s an experience I had today. What experiences have you had?

My husband Brian and I have been married almost twenty-seven years now, but I still remember the moment when we were engaged and the overwhelming feeling came to me: I want to have his babies. I want to see little Brians running around. I love him and want to see more of my husband in the form of little ones in his image.  (Now there are five Brian/Julies!)

But isn’t this what Mary also experienced? God came to her in love and asked if she would have his child. Yes, she loved Him and wanted to see a God/man on this planet.

And don’t we also experience the same at Truro? I love Truro and want to see more of my Truro friends’ Christ-like image running around Fairfax!  As God’s Bride, we love Him and want to see more of Him in other people.

“Let us make mankind in our image,” God said.
